Welcome to MarinaPacificaNoise.com, the official website for a group of concerned homeowners at Marina Pacifica, a condominium housing development in Long Beach California.

What are we trying to do? Simply put, to ban cigarette and other loud “racing” boats from the Marina Pacifica Mall and the residences at Marina Pacifica.

Why would we want to do this? The channel is basically an echo chamber since it has 20′ walls on both sides (the mall on one side, our homes on the other) with a natural sound conductor between – Water. As a result, loud boats become even louder, which is very disruptive. We have been awoken on a Sunday morning before seven and as late as 1am, also on a Sunday. Plus numerous times during the day, often playing loud music.

Aside from the loudness issues, cigarette boats especially are large and have a lot of horsepower, but are not meant for tight spaces and often have problem maneuvering in our channel, which on weekends is used by many kayakers. It is only a matter of time before the two collide.

We do not mean to imply that all of our issues are with visitors coming into the docks. We also have several loud racing boats that are in slips in the marina in which we live. They don’t live in any of the homes, they moor their boats here. In some ways they are the worst offenders.
